About once a month, Domenic and I pick a Saturday to tear off on foot around the city. Of all days, this one was especially chilly and sprinkled with a rain/snow mix, but instead of looking gloomy, the weather showed me just how glittered and gold the city is!

Though The Loop is pretty congested, it has some gorgeous landmarks worth marveling at. This is how we did The Loop in a day.

11:20 a.m.

Stopped to admire Chicago Theater, the landmark theater built in 1921.

11:35 a.m.

Headed up to Wacker to snap a pic of Tribune Tower, which has one of my favorites clocks in the city.

Speaking of gorgeous clocks...

Shot of the L – don't forget to look up (even though you'll here it a half-mile away first).

Noon

Stopped into Macy's, AKA retail's source of Christmas cheer.

The Women's section on the third floor overlooks Joffrey studios! I feel like ballet is quintessential winter.

It wasn't always Macy's. The Marshall Field building exudes 1950s class. Channeling my inner Mrs. Maisel!

All that glitter might actually be gold. That frame though!

ree

1:05 p.m.

My first time in the Chicago Cultural Center.

Coffee by the fire of the Chicago Athletic Association. The lighting inside this gorgeous parlor is tricking for photos, so you'll need to see it for yourself to capture the old fashioned library feel. Happy I got this guy on camera, though.

2:30 p.m.

Headed into the grandiose ballroom at The Palmer. This gorgeous space is perfect to pop in for a glass of red.

Under the tracks.

Financial District

We'll be back in Union Station's Grand Room this week heading home for Thanksgiving, but we wanted to see how the renovations were coming.
