Fight No More,
Lydia Millet
Lydia Millet's short stories, in some way, are loosely tied to a miserable broker in L.A. Whether the characters are in a house she's shown or the stories are about Nina herself, you see raw accounts of Los Angeles life from multiple POVs.
Some of the stories make you think a little bit, too. The connections aren't always obvious, but that's the making of a good story – you're immersed in the snippet of someone's life, regardless of the reason.
